Abstract

This article analyzes the role of rural tourism in the modern tourism industry, its
socio-economic significance, and development prospects based on international experience. The
study highlights global rural tourism trends using data from UN Tourism and the World Bank, and examines Japan’s “Green Tourism” and “Satoyama” models as innovative approaches. It also
assesses the opportunities for developing rural tourism in Uzbekistan, existing statistical indicators, and institutional challenges from a scientific perspective. Furthermore, the article substantiates the importance of digital technologies, infrastructure modernization, and local community participation in ensuring the sustainable development of rural tourism.
