Мақолада минтақавий ривожланишнинг назарий асослари, унинг турли босқичларда шаклланган назариялари ҳамда замонавий ёндашувлари илмий таҳлил қилинади. Анъанавий конвергенция ва дивергенция назариялари, ядро–периферия модели билан бирга эндоген ўсиш, инновация ва кластерлашув каби муосир концепциялар ҳам кўриб чиқилади. Шунингдек, молиявий механизмлар ва давлат молиясининг ҳудудий ривожланишдаги роли, уларнинг самарадорлигини таъминлашда институционал ва ташкилий асосларнинг аҳамияти ёритилади. Таъкидланганидек, замонавий шароитда минтақавий ривожланишнинг энг самарали йўли иқтисодий, ижтимоий, сиёсий ва маданий омилларни уйғунлаштирган интегратив ёндашув ҳисобланади. Шу тариқа, мақолада ҳудудий фаровонлик ва барқарор иқтисодий ўсишни таъминлашда молиявий воситалардан мақсадли ва самарали фойдаланиш тамойиллари илмий жиҳатдан асослаб берилади.
